Twelve days before Christmas via blog and Facebook
Perhaps you’ll find a minute daily to meditate with us
On the first people who lived the Christmas story that transformed a universe.
May your Christmas be spectacular this year
as you hold the entire season sacred and holy in your hearts.
as you hold the entire season sacred and holy in your hearts.
Elizabeth
Elizabeth, Mary's Cousin, John the Baptist's Mom, you’re an interesting woman in the chain of events leading to Jesus birth.
Holy too, I imagine, to be chosen, for the messenger of the Kingdom-to-come’s mother.
Not every birth has a pre-announcement before conception.
How interesting that John the Baptist’s did and Jesus’ did.
In both cases miracle births happened.
No in vitro, but Spirit vitro, direct and dazzling.
Zechariah, an old, old man and wife Elizabeth, an old woman have a child!
How were the neighbors to figure that out?
And then the Virgin birth.
The neighbors may have come up with a story for this,
but not a truth.
Elizabeth you were one of the special ones filled with the Holy Spirit and given the gift of knowledge.
Even before Mary told you of her pregnancy upon her arrival, Elizabeth, you knew, and proclaimed, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear?” and you asked Mary, “But why am I so favored the mother of my Lord should come to me?
Elizabeth, humble and excited, you knew that Mary’s child would be your Lord. Amazing?
We hear no more of you in Scripture, but surely you watched the unfolding events as your son John proclaimed the identity of the Messiah.
Holy Spirit involvement in the birth of John and Jesus was huge. May the Holy Spirit play a huge part in our lives today as well.
